Partial meniscectomy The damaged portion of the meniscus is taken out by way of small incisions made and an arthroscope is used to view the damage and remove the torn portion of the meniscus. This surgery is chosen for avascular tears.
The damaged meniscus is replaced by transplanting a tissue called the allograft. The allograft may be obtained from another person’s body.
This surgery is usually recommended for the vascular regions. The torn edges of the meniscus are sutured together with the help of an arthroscope which enables detailed view of the area.
